UNIOSUN Alumni Pledge Support, Elect New NEC

The Osun State University Alumni Association reaffirmed its commitment to the institution’s growth during its Annual National Convention. Dr. Toyin Olaniyan, Chairman of the Caretaker Transition Committee, emphasized unity among members to sustain academic standards and infrastructural development.

With a record-high attendance of 161 alumni and 136 accredited voters, the convention convened under the theme “The Role of Alumni in University Development.” Dr. Toyin’s address highlighted the significance of alumni contributions in fostering community, academic excellence, and professional networking.

The event featured insights from Engr. Adebisi K. Aderanti, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, who underscored alumni associations’ global role as agents of university advancement. He urged members to overcome differences and leverage collective strength to propel UNIOSUN’s progress.

Addressing past challenges, Engr. Adebisi acknowledged strategic reconciliation efforts, affirming a renewed commitment to unity and development. He lauded the association’s transparency, citing a comprehensive external audit from 2016 to 2022 to ensure financial integrity.

The electoral committee reported 270 registered attendees, with 263 eligible voters after excluding committee members. Mr. Arisilejoye, the Chief Electoral Officer, announced Mr. Abubasit as the new National President, alongside successful candidates for other key positions.

Among the elected officials were Akinlade Boluwatife as Vice President and Sulaimon Ibrahim as National General Secretary. Additionally, Mr. Afolabi Adedayo Jamiu was ratified as National Auditor, signaling a collective commitment to effective governance and accountability.

The convention’s resolutions underscores the alumni’s dedication to UNIOSUN’s advancement. Through collaborative efforts and responsible leadership, the association aims to uphold its alma mater’s legacy of excellence and contribute meaningfully to its future growth and development.

Former BOT Chairman’s Cautionary Tale on UNIOSUN Alumni Election Amidst Constitutional Concerns

As the UNIOSUN Alumni Association convention and election edges closer, the former Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT), of the association, Mr. David Oladeji, was in a chat with uniosunupdates. In the brief chat he voiced his concerns about potential upheaval and constitutional missteps. In an exclusive exchange, he stresses the importance of a smooth process devoid of legal entanglements, given the ongoing perceived deviations from constitutional provisions by the organizing bodies.

Echoing his worries, the former chairman suggested that in a healthy association there would be far reaching repercussions for certain BOT members, as well as former NEC members, with some facing replacement and others potentially seeing affirmations of their suspensions by the associations highest decision body, the Congress, at this convention. This would potentially, serve as a deterrent for those embroiled in alleged financial mismanagement and other transgressions or plan to be involved in such as well as raise awareness on the standards of service expected of those appointed to positions or nominated as the case may be.

In a notable aside, the former chairman reveals his counsel to his friend and presidential candidate, Olasupo Bashorun. He strongly advised against running for the position in this election cycle, emphasizing the necessity of addressing structural issues through constitutional reforms and legal recourse. Despite his reservations, he wishes Bashorun the best as a friend.

Regarding another candidate, Oriola Oladipupo, the former chairman anticipates potential consequences for his purported disqualification due to a missed revalidation form. Given Oriola’s history with the association, he hopes for a delicate handling of the matter, recognizing the sensitivity of the situation.

Turning to issues surrounding the Binukonu group and allegations of power maneuvers, the former BOT chairman alludes he has been aware of such insinuations and hopes they are just rumours. He contends that implicated individuals would not jeopardize themselves in such a brazen manner, nor would they resort to desperate power grabs. He had this to say about Basit, “Well I think a man of integrity would have established beyond reasonable doubt his innocence on the allegations before putting himself forward for such a position of responsibility, however, we have a Nigerian president who is allegedly a drug-baron, so it comes as no surprise that the association which is a model of mini Nigerian politics is encumbered with such personalities”.

Lastly, on the subject of Idris Adetunji’s persistent candidacy, the former chairman offers a light-hearted comparison to political titans. Drawing parallels to figures like Atiku Abubakar and Abraham Lincoln, he muses on Adetunji’s consistency in seeking office and suggests that this election may be his moment to shine.

In essence, the former BOT chairman’s reflections shed light on the intricacies and challenges surrounding the UNIOSUN Alumni Association election. With concerns over constitutional compliance, potential repercussions for BOT members, and the unfolding dynamics of candidate eligibility, the journey ahead remains rife with uncertainties and complexities. Only time will unveil the unfolding narrative and its impact on the association’s future trajectory.

Will the Binukonu Caucus will be Done? (Part 2) Unraveling the Controversy Surrounding UNIOSUN Alumni Association Elections

In the midst of escalating tensions and accusations surrounding the UNIOSUN Alumni Association Elections, a deeper narrative emerges, shedding light on the intricate web of influence and power dynamics at play. Against the backdrop of allegations of conspiracy and manipulation, the question looms large: Will Binukonu’s will be done?

Recent developments have added fuel to the fire, validating some of the concerns raised by vocal critic Idris Adetunji and shedding new light on the extent of the alleged manipulation within the electoral process.

Firstly, another presidential candidate, Engr. Olasupo Bashorun, has come forward to corroborate many of Adetunji’s claims. Bashorun confirms that Adetunji’s letters outlining concerns about the electoral committee’s integrity and past practices did not reach the outgoing Board of Trustees (BOT). This revelation underscores the challenges of accountability and communication within the association, where vital information may not always reach the appropriate channels.

Secondly, David Oladeji, the former BOT chairman, has confirmed he was not aware of Adetunji’s letters until August or September 2022, long after they were initially sent.

Thirdly, emerging allegations point towards the electoral committee chairman’s (Arisilejoye Azeez) role in nominating Basit Olokuta, purportedly representing the interests of the Binukonu group, for the presidential candidacy. This revelation adds another layer to the intricate connections between the electoral process and influential factions within the alumni community, suggesting potential conflicts of interest and undue influence.

As these revelations unfold, the specter of the Binukonu Caucus and its alleged influence over the electoral process looms ever larger. The association finds itself at a crossroads, grappling with fundamental questions of fairness, transparency, and accountability as well as constitutional misnomers.

In the face of mounting evidence and growing public scrutiny, the electoral committee, the BOT, and other relevant stakeholders must confront these allegations head-on. Transparency, impartiality, and adherence to established protocols are non-negotiable principles that must guide the electoral process.

The UNIOSUN Alumni Association Elections represent more than just the selection of a new leadership; they symbolize a crucial juncture in the association’s journey towards greater integrity and inclusivity. The outcome of these elections will not only shape the immediate future of the association but also set a precedent for its commitment to upholding democratic values and fostering a culture of trust and accountability among its members.

As the alumni community watches with bated breath, the question remains: Will Binukonu’s will be done, or will the spirit of fairness and justice prevail in the face of adversity? The answer lies in the actions and decisions of those entrusted with safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process and upholding the principles of democracy and transparency.

Vice Presidential Candidate, Lawal Funmilola Opeyemi: A Beacon of Integrity and Leadership in the UNIOSUN Alumni Elections

As the elections draw near in the UNIOSUN Alumni association, one name stands out as a shining example of integrity, dedication, and leadership – Lawal Funmilola Opeyemi. With a distinguished academic background and a track record of exemplary leadership, Opeyemi emerges as a formidable candidate for the position of Vice President.

Opeyemi’s journey in academia began with the pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, where she graduated with honors, achieving a Second Class Upper Division in 2011. This academic achievement speaks volumes about her dedication to excellence and her ability to excel in challenging academic environments.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Opeyemi’s personal life is a testament to her character and values. Married to Olajide Abayomi Olagoke, who shares her alma mater and graduation year, Opeyemi has demonstrated unwavering support and love for her family. She promises that with her at the helm, voters can be confident that the alumni association will continue to thrive and make a positive impact on the community. Her unwavering dedication to serving others, coupled with her strong sense of ethics and integrity, makes her the ideal candidate to lead the association forward.

UNIOSUN Alumni Presidential Candidate, Idris Adetunji, Speaks Out Against Electoral Committee: Calls for Justice and Equity

In the unfolding drama of the UNIOSUN Alumni Association Elections, one voice rings out with a cry for justice and equity. Idris Adetunji, popularly known as Ijoba, a doctoral candidate at the Alma Mater, Osun State university and a seasoned participant in the association’s affairs, has emerged as a vocal critic of the electoral committee’s integrity and transparency.

Idris Adetunji’s journey within the UNIOSUN Alumni Association spans years of dedicated service and unwavering commitment. Having contested the presidential position three times previously in 2016, 2018, and 2021, and still in the running for the 2024 elections, his passion for the association’s welfare is undeniable.

In a candid conversation with Adetunji, he expressed deep-seated concerns about the conduct of past elections and the apparent violations of the association’s constitution. He alleges that non-members were allowed to participate in previous elections, a claim that raises serious questions about the integrity of the electoral process under the previous committee chaired by Arisilejoye Azeez. According to him “I wrote petitions against the electoral commitee and Oris In 2021 with evidences but they refused to acknowleged my petitions”. The current electoral commitee is chaired by the same Arisilejoye Azeez. The petition is attached below.

In a short chat with him he had this to say “As for me I don’t trust the electoral commitee, I don’t believe in them that they can conduct free and fair elections because of the past. Their character is questionable and I believe they are suporting a particular candidate, Binukonu Family, headed by Basit Bashorun Olokuta and this Basit Olokuta has been alleged of diversion of association funds to personal accounts, they have spent more than 13 million naira without any tangible achievement to show for it. So what I see in them is this, they don’t want new people to emerge so that their secret will not be exposed. Thats what they are doing, that why they want their member there. Even the BOT is compromised, they deviate all the time, if they say this today, tomorrow they will change it. Is it this ones we will follow? The composition of the last NEC is comprised of individuals using the associations funds to do business.”.

Apparently, Adetunji’s scathing criticism extends beyond the electoral committee to encompass the Board of Trustees (BOT), whom he accuses of constant deviation from their responsibilities and questionable use of association funds for personal gain. He highlights the composition of the last National Executive Council (NEC), which he claims is comprised of individuals using association funds for personal business ventures.

In the context of previous developments and allegations of conspiracy and manipulation within the electoral process, Adetunji’s words carry significant weight. His accusations of bias and corruption within the electoral committee and the BOT resonate with the concerns raised by other stakeholders about the integrity of the electoral process.

Adetunji’s call for liberation from the perceived clutches of the Binukonu Family and their allies strikes at the heart of the struggle for accountability and transparency within the UNIOSUN Alumni Association. His campaign promises to promote these values align closely with the broader narrative of demanding fairness and justice in the electoral process.

As the UNIOSUN Alumni Association Elections approach, Adetunji’s voice serves as a rallying cry for change and reform. Whether his message resonates with the broader alumni community remains to be seen, but one thing is clear – his determination to challenge the status quo and fight for a more accountable and transparent association is unwavering.

Unveiling the Binukonu Caucus (Part 1): Unraveling Allegations of Conspiracy in the UNIOSUN Alumni Association Elections

In the lead-up to the UNIOSUN Alumni Association Elections, whispers of intrigue and clandestine machinations swirl within the alumni community. At the center of this swirling tempest lies the enigmatic “Binukonu Caucus” – a shadowy group purportedly wielding significant influence over the electoral process.

The tale of the Binukonu Caucus is shrouded in mystery, yet its connections to both the Board of Trustees (BOT) and the electoral committee are undeniable. Allegations abound of members of this elusive group holding positions of power within the BOT, while others are said to have infiltrated the ranks of the electoral committee.

The crux of the matter lies in the possibility of a concerted effort to manipulate the electoral process to install a president from amongst the ranks of the Binukonu Caucus. While such claims may seem far-fetched to some, multiple sources have come forward with allegations of collusion and scheming aimed at securing victory for their preferred candidate.

Perhaps most concerning is the revelation that a majority of the electoral committee members were “appointed” in a controversial Annual General Meeting (AGM), where dissenting voices were drowned out by the sheer force of numbers from the Binukonu Caucus. This has resulted in at least 50% of the electoral committee being comprised of individuals allegedly affiliated with the group, raising serious questions about the fairness and impartiality of the electoral process.

As the alumni community grapples with these unsettling revelations, the specter of conspiracy looms large over the upcoming elections. The mere possibility of a select group wielding undue influence over the democratic process strikes at the very heart of the principles of fairness, transparency, and accountability that should underpin any election.

In the face of such allegations, it is incumbent upon the electoral committee to demonstrate unwavering commitment to upholding the integrity of the electoral process. Transparency and impartiality must reign supreme, and any perception of bias or favoritism must be swiftly addressed to safeguard the credibility of the elections.

Moreover, it falls upon the shoulders of every alumni member to remain vigilant and demand accountability from those entrusted with organizing the elections. Our alma mater deserves nothing less than a free and fair electoral process that reflects the true will of the alumni community, untainted by the specter of manipulation or conspiracy.

As the UNIOSUN Alumni Association Elections approach, the spotlight shines ever brighter on the shadowy corridors of power where the Binukonu Caucus purportedly lurks. Only time will tell whether the allegations of conspiracy are mere whispers in the wind or the harbinger of a storm that threatens to engulf the integrity of our beloved alma mater’s democratic traditions.

Ensuring Transparency and Integrity: A Call for Fairness in the Osun State University Alumni Elections Amidst Olokuta’s Candidacy

As the Osun State University Alumni gear up for their upcoming elections, a familiar name resurfaces in the midst of anticipation and excitement: Basit Olokuta. This election, however, is not just about choosing new leaders; it’s about upholding the values of transparency and integrity that define the essence of our alma mater.

Olokuta’s candidacy sparks a contentious debate among alumni, reminiscent of past controversies that have surrounded his involvement in the associations affairs. As a former General Secretary who was alleged to have used association funds in his account, originally intended for an association program and like others in his NEC may have only returned it when a petition was written to the Board of Trustees. Olokuta has challenged the Board of Trustees in court, his decision to run again raises valid concerns about his commitment to the principles of accountability and ethical leadership as his lawsuit has not exonerated him from the allegations in the petition till date.

But the issues at hand extend beyond Olokuta’s candidacy. The very process of the alumni elections is called into question, with allegations of disenfranchisement casting a shadow over the integrity of the electoral committee based on . Alumni who have dedicated themselves to the betterment of our alma mater find themselves sidelined, their voices muted in the democratic process they once helped shape.

In this moment of uncertainty, it is imperative that we, as alumni, reaffirm our commitment to the values that define us – integrity, transparency, and inclusivity. The decisions we make in these elections will not only shape the future of our alumni association but also reflect the character of our beloved university.

It is incumbent upon the electoral committee to address these concerns with the utmost urgency and diligence. The integrity of our alumni elections hangs in the balance, and any perception of bias or unfairness threatens to undermine the trust and confidence of the alumni community.

As we navigate these challenging times, let us remember the principles that have guided us throughout our journey as students and alumni of Osun State University. Let us demand accountability from our leaders, and let us ensure that every member of our alumni family is given a fair and equal opportunity to participate in the democratic process.

In the spirit of unity and solidarity, let us rise above the divisions that threaten to divide us and work together to build a brighter future for our alma mater. Our voices matter, our votes count, and together, we can ensure that the values we hold dear continue to shine bright at Osun State University.

Oriola’s Lawsuit and Its Ripple Effects: Examining the Credibility of the Osun State University Alumni Elections

As the Osun State University Alumni Elections draw near, the specter of controversy looms large over the candidacy of one individual: Oriola. With a pending lawsuit against the individuals acting as the Board of Trustees (BOT), Oriola’s journey to the elections has been fraught with legal battles and procedural hurdles.

The crux of the matter lies in Oriola’s lawsuit, which calls into question the legitimacy of the BOT and their actions. Despite rumors of reconciliation between the parties involved, a thorough investigation reveals that the lawsuit remains unresolved, casting a shadow of uncertainty over the electoral process.

Adding fuel to the fire, the electoral committee’s decision to disqualify Oriola raises eyebrows and fuels speculation about the motives behind such a move. The committee cites Oriola’s failure to submit an expression of interest revalidation form as grounds for disqualification, a decision that many view as arbitrary and unfair.

But beyond the intricacies of legal battles and procedural technicalities lies a more profound question: what does Oriola’s disqualification mean for the credibility of the Osun State University Alumni Elections?

At its core, the credibility of any electoral process hinges on the principles of fairness, transparency, and accountability. When candidates are disqualified under questionable circumstances, it erodes trust in the integrity of the electoral process and undermines the legitimacy of the outcomes.

The unresolved lawsuit adds another layer of complexity to an already contentious situation. While rumors of reconciliation may offer a glimmer of hope for a resolution, the fact remains that the lawsuit continues to linger, casting doubt on the legitimacy of the BOT and their actions.

In the face of these challenges, it is imperative that the electoral committee acts with transparency and fairness to uphold the credibility of the elections. Any perception of bias or favoritism only serves to further erode public trust and confidence in the process.

As alumni, we must remain vigilant and demand accountability from our electoral committee. Our alma mater deserves nothing less than a free, fair, and transparent electoral process that honors the principles of democracy and respects the rights of all candidates.

In the end, the credibility of the Osun State University Alumni Elections rests in the hands of its stakeholders. It is up to us to ensure that the integrity of our alma mater is upheld and that our voices are heard loud and clear in the halls of democracy.
